Meet
Ty Sumner
Dr. Ty Sumner was born in Greenwood, SC and lived there until he moved to Charleston, SC in 1986. There he received his undergraduate education at The Citadel and afterwards attended the Medical University of South Carolina, School of Dental Medicine. He graduated with his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) in 1994 and served as a Captain in the United States Army Dental Command until 1997. It was in The Army that his love for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery grew, and he completed his surgical residency at the Medical College of Georgia in 2001. He has been in private practice in Anderson, SC for the past 23 years.
Dr. Sumner and his wife, Nancy, have 4 children and two dogs. He enjoys Clemson football games, fishing, and most of all spending time with his family.
Professional Memberships
Dr. Sumner is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Sumner is a member of the Southeastern Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the South Carolina Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
